What should your client know about you?
My name is Graciela Cano. I am a social work graduate student at USC. Very eager to begin on the pathway to becoming a future Licensed Clinical Social worker. I am bilingual in English and Spanish while practicing my French.
What is your approach to therapy?
I focus on the specific needs of the client while using evidence-based interventions to help progress. I integrate a client-centered focus in a collaborative approach. I also focus on identifying strengths and enhancing confidence to work towards goals using strengths-based approaches.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I encourage open communication regarding thoughts and emotions without any judgment. Safe space is important to tailoring client’s needs. I also want to share practical strategies and tools that help navigate challenges. I am here to support achieving goals for personal growth. My aim to is empower strengths.
What has been your path to becoming a therapist?
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Social work from California State University, Los Angeles. I began my journey with social work through various opportunities in volunteering with people of diverse backgrounds. I became very intrigued by understanding human behavior, mental health, and therapeutic techniques. I am developing skills to help build strong expertise and help more people in my community despite language barriers.
