Katie Ortiz, LCSW, MSW

What should your client know about you?

I am simply a support tool with a means to an end: my job is to help the client find their way through their journey and be able to implement the things they learn in therapy on their own.

What is your approach to therapy?

I pull from different therapy models depending on the client’s needs: CBT/TF-CBT, interpersonal psychotherapy, solution-focused, structural family therapy, strength-based therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

It is my hope that clients feel seen, heard and supported and can walk away with a sense of comfort and better understanding of self.

What was your path on becoming a therapist?

Divine intervention! Right out of college I began the on-boarding process to become a police officer because I thought I could help people this way. I began to realize how oppressive to urban communities the legal system truly was and thankfully had the sense to drop out. A few years later I went back for my Master’s in Social Work and am so thankful to have found my calling.
