Meera Baya’a, AMFT
What should your client know about you?
I work with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family counseling. I also have experience in running therapy groups, including process groups, anger management, parenting classes, and domestic violence intervention programs.
What is your approach to therapy?
I speak both English and Arabic fluently. In therapy, I lead a client-centered and collaborative approach to sessions, aligning treatment to what best fits clients’ needs and empowering clients to lead healthier lives and interpersonal relationships.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I was born and raised in the Middle East and emphasize the importance of recognizing and respecting others’ cultural beliefs, perspectives and values, particularly as they pertain to mental health and treatment.
What was your path on becoming a therapist?
Due to the stigma surrounding mental health in my own cultural upbringing, I sought to fill the gaps in my community by pursuing this career path. This is an addition to my being an empath and a good listener.
