Biography

I have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and elders. I have worked in the school setting, public mental health setting, and correctional facilities. I believe every person is an expert in their lives and offers a skill-building and collaborative approach to improve an individual’s well-being and empowerment to make different and healthier life changes.

My approach to therapy focuses on using the CBT model to assist individuals in identifying the impact of their thoughts and their influence on their behaviors. I also utilize Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) which aims to process trauma-related symptoms and behaviors. As a therapist, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space using positive communication, a strengths-based approach, humor, and warmth to provide a comfortable setting.

Clients will develop and practice skills to offer a positive impact on life. Goals will be implemented and measured to analyze progress and identify any changes necessary to promote a healthy adaptive lifestyle and improve overall functioning.

I attended California State University Northridge where I received a Bachelors in Social Welfare. During undergrad, my focus was on mental health in low-income communities and gender roles. Afterward, I received my Masters in Social Work at California State University Los Angeles focusing on the effects of trauma on individuals and mental health in correctional facilities.
